Our Committee

St Paul’s Church Nursery School was set up in accordance with a resolution of the St Paul’s Church PCC (January 2004) and is managed in line with the vision and values of St Paul’s Church.

Aims

The aims of the Nursery are:

  • To provide outstanding quality daily education and care for children aged 2-5 years and their families, within the local community.
  • To incorporate the Christian world-view, ethos and values into the provision of education and care, whilst remaining aware of, and respectful towards, those of other faiths.
  • To be a key part of the vision of St Paul’s church. Specifically, by parents and children being exposed to, informed about and welcomed into St Paul’s church family life and faith.
  • To advance the education and training of staff in the provision of Early Years education and care.
  • To carry out all aims, objectives and activities within an equal opportunities policy, giving consideration to social and economic circumstances, ethnic and cultural origins, an awareness of physical, sensory or learning disability and without gender or racial stereotyping.

Management Committee

The nursery is run by a Management Committee, which operates with delegated powers from St Paul’s PCC. It meets twice a term and is responsible for approving the finance/budget, policies and key staff appointments. It also receives reports from the Head, and its members visit the nursery and help out on open occasions such as the Fun Day.

Meet the Management Committee:

Chair:  Ali StudleyAli Studley 2019
Ali joined St. Paul's Church Nursery School in November 2018, having been involved in the Church for many years.
She writes...

“I jumped at the opportunity to be involved in this amazing nursery provision when I was approached and have found it a massive learning experience, having never been involved in education before.  But I have found that some of the skills that I have learnt in running a charity and working with children, youth and their parents over the years, have helped me to begin to find my way through the maze that is Early Years provision.
You will often find me around the Nursery; volunteering, collecting my granddaughter or asking endless questions of the very patient staff team.
Despite the fact that I am very new to the team, I am already immensely proud to be involved with this outstanding Nursery. ”

Parent Representatives: Natasha Pretorous and Helen Waters

Natasha and Helen are our ongoing Parent Reps from September 2020,  they will provide a valuable link between parents and nursery, attending Management Committee meetings and feeding back ideas and comments.  They will be actively involved in planning and helping with fundraising.

Natasha writes...

Hello, I’m Natasha mum to Olivia and Lucas. When I’m not busy chasing after my own children I work as a teacher in a school for children with learning and additional needs and could not love what I do more.

I am thrilled to be able to support both parents and the nursery as parent rep and hope we can achieve some great things this year. It’s my first time being involved in something like this so I hope I can do the job some justice. It’s already been so lovely getting to know everyone and getting stuck in with some fundraising for the nursery.

Helen writes...

It is great to be involved in some of the behind the scenes aspects of nursery and fundraising, we are looking forward to organising some great small and larger fundraising activities. Having had a child at the nursery for 3 years now, I've always enjoyed the sociable, community spirit the nursery has and am really looking forward to ensuring that remains (when covid allows!)"

It is a legal obligation for us to hold an Annual General Meeting at which the Annual Report and receipts and payment account and a statement of assets and liabilities are presented. However, we also like to make it an interesting time to talk about life in the nursery and to take questions from those who have an interest in it, so please look out for the date of the next one; it is normally held in March. Those eligible to attend are the Management Committee, PCC members and parents of children attending or about to attend the Nursery.
