Joining

New people are visiting us all the time - and we aim to make you very welcome. We have regular 'Newcomer's Teas' on Sunday afternoons at the vicarage which are an opportunity to meet others new to the church and hear more about how to become a member. For full details please call the parish office.

If you would like to join the church by being baptised or confirmed, please get in touch with us by emailing reception@stpaulsdorking.org.uk

There are essentially three things to do to become a member of St Pauls: connect, serve and give.

  1. get connected to God and others in regular Sunday worship, and join a Small Group of people where you can enjoy community, establish friendships, and be encouraged and supported to grow in your faith.  We have small groups of all kinds, some meet during the day, others are in the evening, and we have a virtual e-group for those who cannot make meetings.  Some groups are for mums, some are for men who do sport together, some are of all ages and stages of life.  Contact the church office and we will suggest some groups you can try out to find the right fit for you!
  2. find a meaningful place to serve the church.  There are hundreds of ways to be part of what we are doing - and there is a role to suit everyone, whatever skills you have to offer, and however much time you do or do not have!  We have teams for hospitality, logistics, admin, social action and justice, children's and youth ministry, the list goes on.  Speak to a member of the staff team if you would like to find a team to serve on or email reception@stpaulsdorking.org.uk
  3. give financially to the ministry and mission of the church.  It costs around £400,000 to run the church every year and we need to raise that amount from within the congregation - we do not get outside funding.  Please set up a standing order and fill in a gift aid form too.  See the 'giving' page on this website for more information.

Electoral Roll

New members who live in the parish, or who have been worshipping at St Paul’s for six months or more, are invited to join the Electoral Roll.  Being on the Electoral Roll shows your commitment to our Church Family and enables you to attend, vote and raise matters at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM - the meeting when members are elected to the Parochial Church Council).

To be on the Electoral Roll you

  • must be 16 or over;
  • must have been baptised;
  • need to either live in the parish or have worshipped regularly at St Paul’s for at least 6 months.

The Electoral Roll is revised every year before the APCM.  It is available to view on request.
Every 6 years the roll is completely cleared and everybody needs to reapply to join. This was last done in 2019 so this year we are merely revising and updating. If you have joined us since the last APCM and qualify we would encourage you to join our Electoral Roll

Please click here to see the dates of the 2023 revision

For any queries or for application forms throughout the year please contact the Electoral Roll Officer, Jo Cassidy, directly or via the Church Office.
